Terje Gudbrandson (born Oslo 1946), MA (Intellectual History) from the University of Oslo 1980. Member of the Board of the Norwegian Genealogical Society and coeditor of its periodical. Author of the Bodin farm and family history (on the Bodø district in Northern Norway ), Vols. II 1-7B, family books, the textbook Genealogy and the pamphlet First Aid for Genealogists.
My family has lived in Oslo for generations, but very early I startet wondering where we “originally” came from. I paid my first visit to an archive when I was 12 years old – and later, I have never stopped going there! I am fascinated by the kind historical understanding a personal history approach opens for– all the time with man in the centre.
I very early started my career as a professional archive researcher, wrote family books and then started my main project: the authorship of all in all nine volumes – over 6000 pages - farm and family history for Bodin – now a part of the city of Bodø in Northern Norway. This process made me understand and identify myself with a part of Norway I had scarcely known on beforehand.
Besides being an author, I have always – as far I had the time – done private researches. First and foremost, it has been about genealogy, and during the years, I have come to know a great number of nice and interesting people – residing in many parts of the world.
